“Click it or Ticket”

You might see more blue lights on the road as area law enforcement agencies continue the “Click it or Ticket” campaign.

Local, county and state police will increase their patrols through June 3 and issue citations to drivers not wearing seat belts.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration said almost half of the people who were killed in car accidents in 2016 were not wearing seat belts.

Lt. T.J. Rennie, with the Washington County Sheriff’s Office, said the solution is simple.

“I don’t know why you wouldn’t wear a seat belt to start with, it’s there to protect you and help save your life,” Lt. Rennie said.

‘Click it or Ticket’ coincides with the unofficial start of summer, which is considered one of the busiest times for driving.

The American Automobile Association predicts upwards of 36-million people will be traveling this holiday weekend.

So being a commercial driver this is not an option, we are the professionals out there on the road and should always set the example.
